I am currently working on a management services review for a London college and have had the unique opportunity to work alongside managers from Lloyds Register in the City.  Lloyds has a charitable arm that gives management support and advice to charities and educational establishments.  Through a contact already made by the college, I have been able to team up with two of their consultants who are adding value to the project that I am working on.  Their private sector experience has been very useful and it has been really interesting working with them. We have different backgrounds but are all strongly customer oriented, focussed on outputs and value for money.

Northolt Library

Wednesday, 16 May 2012 05:39

Experia Solutions looks at the books at Northolt Library After winning the competitive tender to evaluate the success of National Lottery funding at Ealing’s Northolt Library we completed the report on time. Feedback from the library said that "Experia Solutions carried out an evaluation of our Community Library project at Northolt Library. Mary and the team were quick to understand the wider context for the project, and took this into account in their work. The final report has provided us with a useful tool to demonstrate the successes of the project so far, as well as giving us guidance on areas for further improvement".

Why are excellent organisations different? Read about Mary’s PhD thesis. Mary has always been interested in the relationship between HR and the performance of an organisation. She researched five London councils in depth to see how excellent councils implemented their HR practices compared with councils that were judged to be performing less well. Although the local government context is different from the private sector the similarities are striking. Mary suggests her main research finding, that high performing councils implement their human resource practices in a more strategic and systematic way, is relevant across all sectors. Her research provides new insights into the contemporary local government arena and her findings will be of interest to any organisation seeking improved performance with reduced resources.
